Dr Andreas Stavroulis graduated in 2002 from the Semmelweis University of Medicine in Budapest, Hungary and was awarded his medical degree (MD) with a distinction.

In 2003 he moved to the UK and started his postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) as a Research Fellow in Endometriosis at the University College London Hospitals (UCLH). Between 2004 and 2013 he trained in London University Hospitals gaining significant experience in all aspects of O&G specialty. Under the guidance of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) he became a Member (MRCOG) in 2009 and was awarded with the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2013 with the accreditation in the following Advanced Training Skills:

1. Advanced laparoscopic surgery 
2. Hysteroscopic surgery 
3. Subfertility and Reproductive Health
4. Advanced Labour Ward Practice

For the last four training years he worked as a senior registrar at UCLH, the busiest hospital in the UK, which is a referral center for all the O&G subspecialties. He was the Senior Fellow of the UCLH Advanced Endoscopic and Endometriosis team (the biggest Endometriosis Center in the UK) and was trained and accredited by worldwide leading experts in advanced/complex hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery (Alfred Cutner, Ertan Saridogan, George Pandis and Arvind Vashisht), in advanced gynaecological ultrasound scanning (Davor Jurkovic) and in reproductive medicine and fertility surgery (Ertan Saridogan).

 

His surgical skills include:

Hysteroscopy:

  • Uterine anomalies (septum, adhesions)

  • Fibroids

  • Polyps

  • Caesarean section scar defect

Laparoscopy:

  • Endometriosis

  • Myomectomy (removal of fibroids)

  • Hysterectomy (removal of the uterus)

  • Urogynaecological and pelvic organ prolapse surgery

  • Repair of Caesarean section scar defect 

  • Ovarian and tubal surgery

  • Oophoropexy and ovarian transposition (ovarian reposition and function preservation for pelvic cancer radiotherapy) 

  • Cervical cerclage for cervical incompetence 

  • Adolescent surgery

 

Between 2013-2014 he worked at the Homerton Fertility Centre in London, one of the busiest NHS fertility units with innovative research activity. Under the guidance of leading fertility experts (Anil Gudi, Amit Shah and Professor Roy Homburg) he specialised in subfertility and assisted reproduction techniques and has been accredited by the British Fertility Society (BFS).

He has published peer-reviewed papers and presented his research work at many international meetings. He is a member of the British and European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE, ESGE), the American Association of Gynecologic Endoscopist (AAGL), the British Fertility Society (BFS) and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Endocrinology (ESHRE).

In October 2014 Dr Andreas Stavroulis returned back to Cyprus and works privately as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, specialist in advanced hysteroscopic / laparoscopic surgery, Endometriosis, reproductive medicine and fertility treatment.

He worked for 1,5 years at the Isis Clinic. In March 2016 he moved to the American Medical Center. He is the first Gynaecologist in the center taking on the leading role of the development of Maternity, Gynaecology and Fertility services. He is also the founder and leader of the Endometriosis Centre Cyprus, a team of professionals caring for women with Endometriosis. 

 

Currently, the maternity services are hosted in the American Medical Center in Nicosia, a brand new state-of-the art maternity unit. Twice a week he sees patients in the the American Medical Center in Limassol. Fertility treatments are located in Akeso Fertility Center both in Nicosia and Limassol.
